The CPSC has called a voluntary recall on over 4 million floats this past Thursday due to the child seats being able toIMG: CPSC tear. These seats are the ones that the baby will sit in while swimming around a pool, since these are the one thing that makes sure your baby stays safe from drowning you probably want to return it.
Aqua-Leisure has recalled 14 different styles of inflatable floats that they’ve made. While you may not have to, it is voluntary and the CPSC is asking that you return them to the company. At this time there is nothing stating if you will be sent a new one or reimbursed.
Here’s what the CPSC site says:
Hazard: The leg straps in the seat of the float can tear, causing children to unexpectedly fall into or under the water, posing a risk of drowning.
Incidents/Injuries: There have been 31 reports of float seats tearing, causing children to fall into or under the water. No injuries have been reported.
Head over to the CPSC for pictures of which ones are being recalled.

85 degrees and 56 percent humidity. Three of the best boys in the world out of school and on adventures. A waterpark less than an hour from home. A whole day to be a mom in the best sense of the word: relaxed, happy, carefree, ready to play - all daily worries set aside in favor of magic.
I haven’t felt life so simply and sweetly since we first arrived back in the States as a newly single mom and I had a good, long temp assignment, a little time for the kid, no pressures but to make our new life work.
I hope you 4th of July weekend is as wonderful as ours. Independence, indeed.

A team led by psychiatrist Dr. Paul Verhoeff reviewed previous studies done on the subject the past 10 years in a bid to find a link between different infections and Alzheimer's.One bacteria they have stumbled upon is the Chlamydia pneumoniae, believed to be be the cause of 10 to 20 percent of pneumonia cases outside hospitals. The team discovered in one autopsy-based study that the Chlamydia bacteria was in 90 percent of the brains of 19 Alzheimer's sufferers, but was only in 5 percent of people with no Alzheimer's disease.

OUCH! Is the first thing that comes to mind when I read a woman had just given birth this morning to a 13 pound baby
girl.
IMG: Sxc.hu
While this is a great thing I can’t even picture carrying a baby of that size. Thankfully she delivered by caesarean and not vaginally.
The pride and joy’s name is Chelsea Rose Mackay and she was 13.8 lbs, another baby in the hospital was born weighing less than 2lbs. Talk about a difference, in the article written by Fox News they have a side by side comparison, Chelsea looks as if she’s 6 months old.
The Australian mom, Danielle Mackay,
IMG: Nestle.com.au
that gave birth says she knew her baby would be big just by the size of her stomach. She went on talking about her diet she was on while pregnant and I must say it sounds really good.
News.com reports:
Ms Mackay said along with her hard working partner, Paul Mifsud, she ate a diet of stockman’s tucker and also snacked on icy poles while pregnant with Chelsea but never imagined her bundle of joy would be this big.
I did look up the meals of Stockman’s Tucker and it has fresh veggies, meats, stews, etc. It all looks really healthy and as for her snacking on icy poles, I’m not sure if they are the ones by Nestle but here’s a pic of what they look like and they do look good. Nestle’ Poles are 99% fat free, gluten free and natural colors.

Splitting up: Who gets the memories?

Tonight after dinner on the roof beneath a rainbow sky, my mother played some old videos of the King of Everything. We watched and laughed as this cute, little, little guy did science ’spermints at the kitchen sink. Mom took the video maybe two years ago. I miss that little kid.
When my ex and I split up, he kept the video camera… and all the videos I’d taken of the King of Everything since he was a baby. I haven’t seen them since. Videos of how he used to crawl like lightning to find the vacuum cleaner, crowing with laughter at the growly noise. How he used to love to crinkle up newspaper. How he learned to walk. It’s all there on film somewhere, but I can’t see it. And neither can my son, though he often asks for stories of when he was a baby. I wish we could watch them together.
Consider, if you split up with the father of your child: who gets the memories? Make arrangements to have important memories like these duplicated. I’m sure it would make my son happy to watch his parents in better days.

At last! The 2nd edition of The Baby Name Wizard will be on sale Tuesday, July 7. Here's a Q&A on what to expect in the new, expanded book:
Q: I have the first edition. Should I bother to buy BNW2?A: You betcha! I recommend one copy for yourself, one to give as a gift, and a spare for when somebody "borrows" your copy and it never returns.
Q: Cut that out. How different is it, really?A: Well, it's different enough that my publisher had to give up on revising the old files and treated it like a whole new manuscript instead. Here's a rundown of what's new:

More than 100 added name snapshots
2 1/2 added style categories
New (and improved) popularity graphs
By request of BabyNameWizard.com readers, a pronunciation guide with every name entry
Special "Spotlight" lists on hot topics (X and O names, Old Hollywood names)
New discussions on subjects like sibling naming, middle names, and matching with surnames
Hundreds and hundreds of updates to existing material

In all, the book has grown from 350 to 400 pages. Even that doesn’t reflect the real scope of the changes, though. I went over every word in the book, updating and upgrading as needed. Most of the name entries have at least been tweaked -- swapping out a couple of sibling suggestions here, updating a trend there -- and quite a few were rewritten from scratch. The upshot is that you'll still recognize The Baby Name Wizard, but I've done my best to make it bigger, better, fresher, and genuinely worth a second look.
Q: Great. So should I pre-order a copy right now? A: Ah. There’s a wee little catch.read more
