File this under “We knew this was coming.”

According to WWD, Marchesa designers Keren Craig & Georgina Chapman have decided to turn their long-term backstage collaboration with Stila and Talia Shobrook into a full-blown beauty business venture.
Meet The Backstage Beauty Collection.

And here’s where this idea goes from beautiful to brilliant: the Chapman will be a sheer red, the Craig will be a sleek nude shade, and the Shobrook will be a rich berry hue. What an amazing way to immortalize yourself… especially since these three colors will be featured on Stila’s roster forever. No capsule collection for these girls!
I’m willing to bet diehard Marchesa fans like Sienna Miller and Jennifer Lopez will be the first to scoop these lipsticks up.
Any takers?

Get This: Redken Real Control...

I know I have been really into talking about hair lately but tis the season for dryness and frizzies. I even went a WHOLE summer without putting anything on my hair and wore only protective styles just to see if I could grown my hair 4 inches in one summer...guess what it worked..LOL.

That being said, I love it when I find new products that help my fragile hair retain strength and moisture level and stay smooth at the same time. Impossible Maybe not ladies. Redken's latest line called Real Control is touted as a system for "dense/dry/sensitized hair". To me that means fried, permed, dry, thick, relaxed etc. My kinda stuff!!!

This line is indeed...intensely moisturizing (formulated with shea butter), and is specifically for hair that is dry, porous and prone to frizz. I decided to try the shampoo, conditioner and hair mask first. Last Saturday (Saturday is hair washing day) I did the shampoo and conditioner and I noticed that my hair felt really clean but I didn't get that whole squeaky feeling which I don't like at all...that makes me think my hair is being dried out! I left the mask on for 30 minutes (which I don't normally do because I am impatient) and WHOA. I could see/feel the difference while I was blow drying my hair. It was shiny and I hadn't even put any product in it yet!!!!!

The line consists of shampoo and conditioner, the Intense Renewal Mask (that I soooo love btw), Thermal Resist leave-in
spray for the those of you (and me...lol) that cannot live without their heat styling appliances, and the
Crema Care leave-in conditioning treatment which would be great on thicker hair.

The line is available exclusively at Warren Tricomi salon in Los Angeles and will roll out nationwide in June at participating Redken Salons. To find a salon in your area check the website or call 800-REDKEN8.

The St. Ives Elements Collection
1) Olive Scrub - Olive Oil enriches this scrub to nourish while cleaning, exfoliating and conditioning, leaving skin smooth and moisturized. The all-natural gentle exfoliants and creamy formula contribute to re-energizing the skin to ensure a healthy look. Additionally, the natural olive oil delivers moisture to otherwise parched skin.
2) Microdermabrasion Scrub - Designed for efficient, everyday exfoliation, this new scrub is unique in its formula, which spreads smoothly and works into a creamy lather with water. The exfoliating system, composed of hydrated silica, gently, but effectively, removes dry, dead skin cells without the coarse or sharp feel of traditional exfoliants. This mixture gently smoothes away the appearance of fine lines and leaves your skin feeling refreshed.
3) Warming Scrub - Created as a one-step cleansing scrub to reduce the appearance of pores, the gentle all-natural exfoliants remove dead, dry skin cells, while the mild cleanser lathers into a creamy foam to whisk away pore-clogging oil and dirt. A truly fulfilling sensory experience, the formula subtly warms when in contact with water to relax pores for a deeper clean.
4) Olive Cleanser - This new, foaming face wash deep cleans and leaves skin feeling moisturized. Mild purifying ingredients provide excellent oil and makeup removal without irritating skin. The fatty acids in olive oil mimic those found at the skin surface, making it desirable for cosmetic use. Thus, the olive-derived emollients provide unique skin conditioning and further nourishment for the face.
5) Protective Cleanser - For the first-time ever on the mass market, St. Ives introduces a breakthrough in SPF application with the creation of a daily cleanser that provides UVA/UVB protection. The SPF 10 technology protects against 90% of UVB radiation or rays, while the sunscreens and cleanser are balanced for optimum results. Sunscreens are encapsulated in a positively-charged silica shell so it sticks to skin, which is negatively charged, without rinsing off. The oil-free, micro-encapsulated sunscreen cleanser eliminates the greasy feel of traditional sunscreens while still softening and protecting the skin.

Maria Menounos at The 15th Annual Race to Erase MS Red Carpet Extravaganza.
The theme of the red carpet event was Old Hollywood, and with that in mind, celebrity makeup artist Bret Boreman took his inspiration from the icons of the 1960’s and created a modern day ‘Glam Goddess’ look on Maria Menounos. “I took Old Hollywood, and gave it a modern twist,” says Boreman. “I wanted the look to have fresh, dewy skin with a stained red lip. To do this, I colored in the lips using a red pencil, then with my index finger, I pressed the color lightly giving the lips a raspberry red, stained appearance. For the skin, I combined a moisturizer with the Stila All Over Shimmering Illuminizer, massaging it into the skin, followed by foundation. This three-product combination; moisturizer, illuminizer and foundation conceals, protects and makes the skin shimmer for a modern take on a classic look.”

Happy Friday!
It’s been so hot in San Francisco these past couple of days. And I’m talkin’ abnormally hot! So warm all I wanted to do was drink ice cold raspberry lemonade last night instead of play with beauty products for a new post (eek!). But I didn’t want to leave you guys hanging so I thought I’d help you kick off the weekend with a fun poll.

- Any NKOTB fans out there? If you are, did you catch the original boy band on The Today Show this morning? I’m definitely not at all so I jetted off to work early - we’ll let the real fans partake in all the Hangin’ Tough fun
- What song is stuck in your head today? Ironically for me, it’s Hangin’ Tough, yikes!

- Where do you wish were at this moment in time? I’m at the office right now, but I wish I were back on the islands of Turks and Caicos. Last night it was so hot, I imagined I was there and slept in my bathing suit.
- What makeup would you bring if you were on vacation? I’d pack my sassy Urban Decay Ammo Eye Palette, waterproof mascara, Chanel Glossimer in Gazelle, and maybe a couple of tubes of MAC Strobe tinted lip conditioners - gotta get your SPF on!
I hope your Friday is a bright and sunny one! Mine certainly is and I can’t wait to get the weekend started, we’re almost there!

Of course she’s know for her addiction to Mr. Big and expensive shoes, but when we think of Carrie Bradshaw, we tend to think about her fabulous mane.

In anticipation of the New York premiere of the Sex and The City movie, curl expert Ouidad shares simple steps on how to get gorgeous waves like Carrie Bradshaw.

1. After shampooing and conditioning your hair, leave about 25% of the conditioner in your hair. Apply styling lotion in fatter sections (about 2 inches wide and 2 inches thick) so you are able to create bigger waves, and perform the Ouidad Rake & Shake method.
2. Be sure to apply the styling lotion evenly working your way all the way up to the top of the head.
3. When you get to the top, create a side part.
4. Next, take the side part section, apply styling lotion and create a wave pattern with the Ouidad Rake & Shake method.
5. Be careful not to rake too much or you will create too much bounce.
6. Allow hair to set. Once it is set, gently diffuse the hair, without placing hair in the diffuser, or again you will be creating too much bounce.
7. Once hair is completely dry, apply a pomade such as Ouidad Clear Control Pomade by rubbing your palms together, pulling hair into a mock ponytail and running your hands through. For the final touch, add a dollop of pomade at the top of the head to smooth any flyaways.
8. Get ready to turn heads with your sexy do!

Spread The Love Around

I know that some people get icked out by the idea of buying used goods or sharing things. I used to be one of those people so I’m certainly not going to look down my nose at anyone. Everyone has a line that they will or will not cross and that’s okay. Well I guess depending on what it is. Like I’m not going to say, “whatever floats your boat” if your thing is kicking babies or something. So on TreeHugger they had an article about NYU making it easier for students to recycle and not just dump their stuff on move out day. This Saturday you can bring unwanted and gently used items, including non-perishable food items to locations on campus. I truly think this is a great idea and I was trying to think of more ways to up-cycle but I’m wondering if it would gross people out or not.
When I was in high school my friends and I would have clothes parties where you would bring stuff you didn’t want anymore and everyone could basically shop out of each other’s closets and take home new clothes. New to you clothes, that is. What if I did a grown up version of that with like unused beauty products. Clearly nothing that would be unsanitary. I’m not trading mascara ordeoderant but how about a barely used bottle of lotion or body wash. I’m just feeling people out so I would interested in all thoughts on this. There is part of me that thinks um, “nasty” but then also I think why waste perfectly good stuff and just end up throwing it out. Would you do this with your friends? Let me know what you think!

Momma, why are your teeth blue? SERIOUSLY, that is what my 4 year old asked me the other day. My husband kept asking me why I was bleaching my teeth AGAIN every time I have these last few months but I ignored him......so it's time for me to come clean. I, Josi Lauritzen am a teeth-bleaching addict!!!!

I knew that before my teeth became clear I needed to do something about it. I've seen the "enamel rebuilding" toothpastes out on the market and had tried a few with so-so results. Well after using Sensodyne ProEnamel toothpaste my teeth are finally getting back on track....I have laid off the whitestrips and my teeth look the better for it...I have been using that with my new Oral B CrossAction Pro-Health Toothbrush...I love IT because it has this awesome tongue cleaner and let's me know when it's time to buy a new one! After all, as vain as I am...I do know that it's all about health!

In fact, on my trip in Mexico my best friends husband even remarked "how do you get your teeth so white, do you bleach them everyday?" So I figure that I am doing okay...phew!!!!

Sensodyne and Oral-B can be found at your local drugstore or mass merchant. The toothpaste is under $5 bucks and the toothbrush under $6!

I’ve had a tube of Max Factor Eyeshadow Duo kicking around in my drawer for awhile. I just couldn’t work up the courage to try it since I was so sure I would hate it. Finally yesterday I decided to try it since I had a little extra time to wash my face and start over if needed.
I am not sure why I was so scared I think I was under the impression it would come out like a Crayola marker on my eyes. I was really surprised how easy and light it came out with a really smooth powder, it was so easy to apply and the color pigment is amazing. The tube I had was the Brassy Berry shade the golden color is PERFECT for summer and the berry color was surprisingly pretty and mellow. The applicator tip made the shadow super easy to work with and the color really stayed true.

Sweep on this loose powder eye shadow for a subtle shimmer or lay it on thick for a metallic effect. The couture-color combinations let you create vibrant shadow effects with the brilliant artistry of a pro.

If I ever put it up in a ponytail, even for a few minutes, it gets bent! So an iron that heats quickly and is thin enough to get all the way to my roots is a great thing to have around when showering and re-drying my hair isn't an option. The nice people at Misikko, a great site that has both high-end styling tools and fabulous haircare products, sent me one of their best flat irons to try. The FHI 1" Flat Iron Platform Special Addition works beautifully. It heats up fast and glides through my hair like a charm. I don't need to worry about it pulling out my hair or frying it to death. Best part is it is on sale for $119 and it comes with FREE 2 day shipping! Pretty sweet huh? I think so. changes as th weather gets warmer and I go into what I like to call "summertime survival" mode. Some of my go-to ways
to stay cool that I have used for years are, drinking loads of water or anything cool to drink (I am a fool for iced tea of any kind!), light meals...nothing heavy to eat so I don't

so you don't have a meltdown on your hands! I also roll up dampened
washcloths and stash them in the freezer, you can use
them on your face and body for an instant blast of cool.

And last but
not least...as little clothing as possible.....
