I think Emma Roberts looks beautiful as usual, I love how she balances a classically beautiful look but keeps it age appropriate. It’s nice to see a young female celebrity that carries herself so well.
Makeup Artist Dawn Broussard collaborated with Neutrogena brand ambassador Emma Roberts to create the starlets look for the Hollywood premiere of Valentines Day. Now, she shares how you can achieve this gorgeous look on your own:
Face:
To keep her skin looking beautiful on and off the red carpet, Emma regularly cleanses with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Facial Cleanser.
For this premiere, I wanted to build a naturally flawless face while treating blemishes and preventing future breakouts. I used Neutrogena SkinClearing Liquid Make-up and SkinClearing Mineral Powder in Classic Ivory for a beautifully even finish. Since her hair was swept away from her face, I gave Emma an airy glow with a Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Blush in Illuminator.
Eyes:
Although Emmas dress was light in color, it was adorned with shimmery sequins in brighter hues. To complement her fun and flirty look, I wanted to accentuate her eyes with spicy-warm brown shades since they are not as harsh as black. Using Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Duo in Crme Caramel for the eye shadow base, I applied Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Duo in Fairy Dusty in the creases of her eyes for a hint of drama. I framed her lash lines with Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Spiced Chocolate so her eyes would pop against her subtle lip color. I finished the look off with a few coats of Healthy Volume Black Brown Mascara.
Lips:
To balance out her smokey eye make-up, I layered Neutrogena MoistureShine LipSheers in Sparkling Nude underneath a top coat of Neutrogena MoistureShine Gloss in Whisper.
Hair Care:
I armed Emma with a bottle of Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo for when she heads home as it instantly removes over 90% of styling product build-up other shampoos and conditioners leave behind. Considering Emmas hair had a lot of styling products in it, the Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo is a great choice for removing dulling residue from overworked hair post-event.

A reader recently asked me what the best pigmented and moisturizing lipstick was and my answer was Yves Saint Laurent ROUGE VOLUPTSilky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15. The YSL Rouge Volupte line is packed full of pigment, yet the lipsticks are comfortable to wear. Needless to say, they also last very well. Furthermore, the packaging is gorgeous!
Most of the YSL shades are not for someone who is shy about lip color. For the most part, they are bright and vibrant. They also pack in pigment, so there is nothing sheer or mild about them! With that said, you actually can wear most on them on the sheer side by being careful with the application. Then build them up for more color punch.
For the neutral shade lover like me, finding a YSL Rouge Volupte that isnt too intimidating can be difficult, but I like several of them. Below are swatches of my four favorite shades. From left to right: Nude Beige, Spicy Pink, Opera Rose, Exquisite Plum. Opea Rose is newit is part of the 2010 YSL spring collection.

YSL Rouge Volupte is pricey, but it ranks among the best there is. If you find a shade that you like, it is well worth it. Plus, every girl needs a luxury lippie or two (or three, or four, or more.)

One of my favorite things about the internet is how it feels at times like a treasure hunt. Sometimes I don’t even know I’m hunting, until I get to that a-ha! moment.
Today, while looking at my Design*Sponge update, I saw a piece onParis apartment dweller, Catherine Taret, whom writes My Little Paris. I had to check it out, because as a girl living in a California suburb, there is nothing more fascinating than the idea of living life as a Parisienne.
My Little Paris is set up into sections and I clicked first”beauty” and then “fashion,” because that’s my area ofinterest, of course. Under fashion I found a piece on Eva Zingoni, who takes leftover fabric and materials from the Paris fashion houses and uses them to create beautiful garments. From remnant to beautiful creation. She also uses recycled materials to make jewelry.
Eva Zingoni believes in a fashion that is not only aesthetic but that seeks to transmit values and even convey emotions. Her limited-series garments are made with prestigious textiles recovered from famous fashion houses. Each unique and luxurious fabric that Eva collects inspires the form, tailoring and texture of a garment and her job as a designer is to listen to what each fabric says, creating a garment that reflects these emotions. Each garment is made exclusively in French workshops, a decision dictated by Evas respect for craftmanship and her desire to support and sustain outstanding local talent.

The black dress above is in matte jersey viscose. It has stripes and embroidered silk organza petals. The Eva Zingoni website is available in both French and English.

Now allow me to introduce you to...
Lipstick in Carroll Street Ruby, a smooth, warm red with slight orange tones.

Together, they make a stunning red lip combo to bring all eyes on your flapping lips.
Loose Pigment in Battery Park Rose, a shade that is strongly reminiscent of MAC's Cranberry eyeshadow. This shadow is more soft cranberry than rose if I had to choose a color to describe it.
Blushes in Herald Square Red Rose, a matte, soft brick red and Hell's Kitchen Tulip, a cool dusty pink
And of course, swatches to give you an idea of how gorgeous these colors look on my fair skin:Top to bottom: Bond Street Red, Carroll Street Ruby, Herald Square Red Rose, Battery Park Rose

Feature by Editorial Assistant Colleen
Heres the New Year gift!
Lancme is going out of their way this year to present all of us with a new product to start 2010 with on the right foot. Im talking about their newest item — the scillation Powerfoundation.
Just hearing the name of this make-up gets me excited.
This sounds like quite the foundation doesnt it? Well its pretty interesting.
This foundation is not like anything Ive personally tried myself. The applicator brush that comes with the foundation vibrates! Yes, thats what I wrote. That was not a typo. The brush actually vibrates 7,000 times per minute. You turn on the brush and dip it into the mineral foundation and then apply it to your face. The vibration will help give you an even application and leave your face feeling flawless and professionally made-up.
This product is designed for all skin types, even those of you with sensitive skin can try this out.
The other great thing about this product is that it has SPF 21 and a promise to last for up to 14 hours. I dont know about all of you but I dont like to apply my make-up on more than once a day and 14 hours covers most of my day going out and about.
Theres also a bit of vitamin E to help moisturize your face. Youll hopefully end up looking like you have a much smoother complexion but also soft to the touch. Its also talc, oil and fragrance-free and yours for $48 U.S./ $65 CAD in nine different shades.
Check out the Lancme counters to purchase the scillation Powerfoundation.

Valentine’s Day is this coming Sunday, so you’ve got a good 5 days left to land yourself a hot date if you haven’t already.
If you’ve been out of dating practice for a while (ahem, like myself), read these insightful tips from Dr. Thomas Connelly, a NYC-based cosmetic dentist, on the best ways to ensure you’re quite kissable throughout the night!
Remember to:
Floss. Bad breath can be caused by food still hanging out in between your teeth long after your meal is over.
Chew your garnish! Parsley and basil are a well-known home remedy for bad breath.
[Drinking] water will help thwart the dehydration effect of alcohol (and the icky smell). Order one glass of water for every drink and youll stay sober and sweet!
Mojitos contain lots of fresh mint, so order one and ask for an extra mint garnish to chew on after you finish your drink.
Order the fruit dessert. Fresh fruits have acidic properties that help to cleanse your mouth after a meal and flush away odor-causing bacteria.
What to Avoid:
Carbs cause the strongest breath odors. Foods that contain a lot of sugars, starches, and cellulose are all culprits.
Alcohol dries out the mouth, which reduces saliva production; saliva helps to cleanse your mouth. Also, alcohol consumption causes digestive problems, which leads to bad breath. So ease up on the cocktails, or youll be heading to the bathroom for more than one reason!

I read in a recent issue of Real Simple that women in the early 1900s never considered leaving the house without a matching coat, shoes, and handbag. How improper that was! While we do not go to such extremes now, theres still a level of harmony that’s maintained between fashion and beauty.
To help make your life easier, The Daily Cookie is putting together two nifty Valentine’s Day guides complete with fashion and makeup ideas to help you create a perfect date look.
For your casual night out, choose comfortable pieces and a classic beauty look that are slightly embellished for a little flair.
Get This Look:
Top, Forever 21 Whispy Rose Top ($17.80 US); Capri Pants, J. Crew Skimmer Pant ($69.50 US); Shoes, Forever 21 Stephanie Strappy Pump ($22.80); Necklace, Anthropologie The In-Crowd Necklace ($19.95 US).

Need a little extra figure boost? Shapewear has always been a secret of celebrities, so why not take note and try some for your big day? My suggestion: Frederick’s of Hollywood Waist Control Long Short ($32 US). It will help any pant or capri fit smoothly to give you major confidence.

For a fun makeup idea to go with your top, coordinate a little bit of blue into our eye look without going overboard. Put a twist on a classic with a blue smoky eye.
Try a pop of navy shadow on the lower lash line with a wash of neutral taupe and gold shadow on the lid. Begin with a primer, then pat on a gold shadow on the lid. I used Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($17 US) and Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Half Baked ($16 US).
Sweep a brown shadow, like Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Twice Baked ($16 US), into the crease and outer corners.
Line your lower lash line with CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Eyeliner ($7 US) in Radiant Sapphire, a navy eyeliner, and smudge sparkly navy shadow on top.
Pull your look together with two coats of Benefit BadGal Lash Mascara ($19 US).

Finally, brush on a gold shimmer powder like TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer ($24 US) for cheeks and smooth on clear gloss for lips to finish your look!

The Spring Season: MAC Cherish Lipstick
MAC Cherish Lipstick ($14.00) is a rich, creamy beige nude. It has an incredibly smooth and creamy feel with a light glossy sheen. I love it, because it’s well-pigmented and gives me nearly full coverage on my lips. Cherish is one of my go-to nude lipsticks for whenever I wear a really dramatic, smoky eye. It works well to complement the look without competing with it or washing it out. Like all MAC lipsticks, it’s vanilla-scented (but not too sweet or cloying–one of the best lipstick scents of all-time, in my humble opinion!), comes in a black bullet, and lasts a good four hours or so on me.
Is this the right nude lipstick for you? Would you wear it?
The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

NARS Spring 2010: Kuala Lumpur Eyeshadow Duo

NARS Spring 2010: Kuala Lumpur Eyeshadow Duo
NARS Kuala Lumpur Eyeshadow Duo ($32.00) is a newly-released eyeshadow duo from NARS Spring 2010 Collection.
On one side, it’s a melon-y peach kind of shade with a shimmery, slightly frosted finish–it would appear that this is just one of those shades for the spring season (like Benefit Nice Melons, MAC Flip, Urban Decay Muchness; or even MAC Melon Pigment). The other side is a reddened burgundy with a softer frost finish and sheen.
I don’t love this eyeshadow duo, and I really thought I’d be all over it, given the way it looks. However, this is an eyeshadow duo one really needs to use wet, because the color pay off is not up to my expectations for a brand like NARS when they’re used dry. When used dry, particularly on the lid, they tend to look incredibly sheer and have a good deal of fall out (primarily of the shimmer). I didn’t expect to have any fall out troubles with this, considering they’re pressed powder shadows with shimmer, rather than glittery bits!
The texture of Kuala Lumpur is very soft–the shadows are smooth and soft to the touch but powdery, and when swatched, they look nicer than it was when I attempted to use the colors dry in a look. In order to make the look come together better, I ended up using the colors wet, which definitely helped quite a bit. I didn’t love it even wet, though, because once it dries, it does fade back a bit. It’s like, when you use the eyeshadow wet, it doesn’t remain looking like it does when wet, but it doesn’t completely become how it looks when dry. Instead, it settles somewhere in between. (You can see me wearing this duo in this look.) I also found that when used dry, it just didn’t seem to apply evenly and I really had to pack on the color to get an even (though sheer) application.
For $32, I want an eyeshadow I can truly use wet or dry, not just wet. I also don’t want to have to work too hard to make it work for me, either. I can get down with having to experiment a bit for just the right application method when we’re talking about a $2 eyeshadow, but if you’re going to buy high-end, it should work right outta the compact, you know?
The good news, for those concerned with the $32 price tag, is you get plenty for your money. The math works out to NARS eyeshadow duos being cheaper by the ounce than both MAC and Make Up For Ever. But maybe you’re better off picking up a different duo…
Oh, p.s. if you dig these colors, you may find that layering them over a more metallic base will help enhance their colors. Like say MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot. I always find poor performing shadows seem to work better when layered over colored and shimmery/metallic bases.
