From Shop MAC Swatches, Eye Shadow Quads via Beauty and Fashion Tech The Shop MAC-Cook MAC Collection is full of fun spring shades. For soft shades, look to the Vera collection, while for shades that shout, look to Shop MAC and Cook MAC. Shop MAC includes three new eye shadow quads which I have photos and swatches of below.

First up is the Shop MAC Call Me Bubbles Palette.

From right to left are Call Me Bubbles swatches of the shades Call Me Bubbles, Fresh Daily, Full of Flavour, and Brash

Next is the MAC Shop and Drop Palette.

From left to right are Shop MAC swatches of the Shop and Drop shades Fresh Daily, Hypnotizing, Power Boosted, and Shop and Drop.

Finally, there is the Colour Added quad.

Below are MAC Colour Added swatches with the shades Laundry Daze, Colour Added, Pre-Packaged, and Self-Serve.

The pigment in the quads is pretty good. I have had a few times with recent collections where I thought the pigment was not as strong as it should be for MAC, but these tend to live up to the quality I would expect, and some of the colors are pretty interesting as well.

Libertine is one of the super fun shows with bold looks and an upbeat attitude! A helping of avant-garde, a dash of irony and more than a little street, the label is always popular with the downtown cool kids who like to stand out! This season was blinged out, with sequins and embellishments and studded paillettes, contrasted with the plaids, wools and tweeds they were on! It made for a Brooks Brothers went to a rave collection... hells yeah! The shoes were a glittery mixed print bonanza of fun! I so badly wanted to tear a pair from the models' feet, but somehow I managed to keep control. I wonder if they're a feasible DIY project! The models all danced around the runway after the show! Here are all my pics: I got video of the models dancing, though it's a touch shakey, especially when I think to grab my camera!

Valentine’s day is on tuesday.
I can’t wait to see what Mr. Twistie does for me… though we’ll probably celebrate on monday. You see, he’s finally figured out that just getting in the car and heading for a favorite restaurant on february 14 rarely results in us getting a romantic meal. More often it results in us circling parking lot after parking lot while he apologizes over and over again. On the other hand, he still doesn’t ever make reservations. So for the last couple years, we’ve chosen a favorite place to eat on the night before Valentine’s day. It’s nice. We don’t get stuck with a prix fixe menu full of things neither of us particularly care for but that are generally considered romantic. We don’t have to deal with big crowds. In fact, Valentine’s eve is a great time to find really good restaurants nearly empty.
We’re also a tidge on the casual side about tying ourselves to the calendar. It works for us. I don’t imagine it would work for everyone, but we like it.
For some people, I imagine it would strike them as… well… something like this:

That’s okay, too. There are probably things I think are the end of the world that don’t matter to much of anyone else. Scratch that. There are things that I think are the end of the world that don’t matter to anybody else at all.
And it may be a misty watercolor memory from a heck of a lot of yonks ago, but I do remember those V-days when I was a solo act. Even then I didn’t mind the holiday. Even when I was on my own I was a little in love with love. I had my dreams. I had people I loved who loved me, even if it wasn’t in a romantic way. I was still an annoying cockeyed optimist, albeit one with a somewhat perversely dark sense of humor.
Speaking of that sense of dark humor, I find it oddly amusing that this year february 14 – yes, Valentine’s day – is National Organ Donor Day. It’s also Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day, and in the UK, it’s National Impotence Day. I kid you not.
So what does this all add up to? Pretty much just some amusing trivia.
How about all of you? Any thoughts, funny stories, bizarre coincidences, or diatribes connected to Valentine’s day or love in general?

When & where: Friday, February 10 at 3 p.m., the Theatre, Lincoln Center
Runway recap: There are designers who feel the need to make a Big Statement about fashion every season, and then there are designers like Rebecca Minkoff who just want to give their loyal clientele some good clothes to wear. So her collection didn't entirely reinvent the wheel, but I'm okay with that, because there was so much good stuff coming down the runway: bright red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple pants and dresses, generously shaped coats (some with sequined sleeves), and a printed maxi shirtdress that I absolutely must have. (Finding oneself shopping from the runway is almost always a good thing.) And in case you were wondering, yes, the bags and shoes look stellar as well, with brightly colored booties and interesting new treatments for her ever-popular Morning After Bag.
Bonus points: Rapper Theophilus London performed during the show and cavorted with the models, reminding us that fashion doesn't always have to be so serious.

When & where: Friday, February 11 at 2 p.m., the Stage, Lincoln Center
Runway recap: In the growing world of contemporary fashion, Rebecca Taylor has been around for a while, and with good reasonshe consistently delivers pretty yet cool, wearable clothes with a slight '70s bohemian edge. So I was pleased to see her go a bit darker for fallin color palette and in tonewith a grungy yet glamorous collection of great-looking coats, quilted skirts, luxe velvet sweatshirts, and wispy chiffon dresses, many layered over leggings with a sequined racing stripe. It was a risk, but it worked, due in large part to the mix of rich-looking textures. And, hey, who doesn't love sparkle?

Bonus points: Layering is something a lot of women struggle with, but Taylor made it look effortless and thus her head-to-toe looks should be an easy selldown to the furry, buckled boots paired with many of the ensembles.

Shows like Toddlers and Tiaria’s are showing that more and more young girls are wearing makeup. And I’m seeing more and more young girls with it plastered all over their pretty faces. Which brings us to the question-How young is too young for makeup?
In my thoughts I think that anything under 12 is too young for makeup. Not only does makeup clog their young pores, but it also just looks bad. I understand if your child is a dancer or actress and needs the makeup, but for school Really A thirteen year old is not the same as a seventeen year old young adult.
Think about it-do you like going anywhere without your makeup on? If you allow a thirteen year old to wear a full face of makeup she probably won’t be comfortable without makeup on her face.

My teenage daughter was allowed to wear lip gloss from 12-14, but until then we didn’t allow her to wear makeup. And she honestly prefer’s light makeup today because of it. She’ll put a full face on for special occasions, but as an older teen she’s comfortable in her own skin.
So how young is too young for makeup?

New York Fashion Week can be a long haul, and morning shows in particular can be killer; until everyone’s had their coffee, we’re all just a bunch of fashionable zombies. It was lucky, then, that Kate Spade Fall 2012‘s morning presentation felt like the sartorial equivalent of a triple shot latte with extra foam. Who needs espresso when you have so much pattern, texture and color?
The collection, styled by the always-dapper Brad Goreski, was full of the Kate Spade staples that we’ve all come to expect (and covet). Not only were there bags in ladylike shapes and retro patterns (plus a few fun clutches that took on the shape of cars and dictionaries), but there were beautiful, brightly colored top coats galore and a feather skirt about which I’m still dreaming. Kate Spade does a masterful job of creating girlish fun in a way that’s accessible to grown-ups, and I doubt I’ll see a collection that’s more fun for the rest of Fashion Week. Check out our full set of pictures after the jump.

Was I the last person to learn about these BB creams? Up to a few months ago, I had never seen one before, and then, all of a sudden, bam! BB creams everywhere! What theses creams are trying to be (or promising to be) is an all-in-one skin care regimen, with one tube packing SPF, moisturizer, some color and a treatment! I'm sold! Only one product to do everything? A dream come true!I have yet to try one of them, but with so many BB creams on the market, I'm sure I'll find something. On my radar right now the Boscia B.B. Cream:I've already blogged about it, but since then I've also been reading a lot of reviews on it, and it definitely looks like a cream worth trying.People mostly say that it's a light weight moisturizer, with a tint, that leaves their skin firmer and glowing. Nice. What's not to like about that?Boscia's description: The gentle botanical formula creates a lustrous, flawless finish as it hydrates, firms, and soothes the skin. It helps to diminish the appearance of pores, fine lines, and uneven skintone while providing long-wearing, natural coverage that conceals imperfections. Comes in a self-adjusting, universal shade that warms to complement most skin tones for sheer, flawless coverage. For $38 this one is on my must-buy list!
