Robert Clergerie Clogs!

Manolo says, everyone is all hot under the collar for the clogs, which, when you think about it, is faintly ridiculous.
However, never let it be said that the Manolo does not respond to the latest fashion trends with useful advice, and so here are three pairs of French clogs from Robert Clergerie which are suitable for wearing out in public.

This is the Cuza from Robert Clergerie, the crisscross strapped open-toed clog that sacrifices nothing in terms of trend-gobbling hotness. Is it possible for the clog to be “hot”? If so, this is perhaps the closest you may come to such the state.

Here is the Pavane from Robert Clergerie another open-toed clog that is worth your time.

Finally, here is the Zhia from Robert Clergerie in the glossy plum color that makes wearing clogs almost bearable.

I tend to view the majority of Tory Burch’s wares as somewhat bland, overpriced or a combination of the two (don’t get me started on those blah flats). But the designer’s Dean Metallic Leather Hobo earns big style points from me, in part for its chic, slouchy shape and also for its great color. The shimmery gold is a standout, but not in an ostentatious way that screams “look at me!” Cute and just perfect to carry into spring. Available for $395 at Nordstrom.

Victoria Beckham arrived in Milan this weekend looking ridiculously chic as usual. In her drapey sweater, skinniest-of-skinnies (from the Victoria Beckham Denim collection, natch) and killer heels, she’s unmatchable in the style department. Elegant, bold, sexy, a little bit disco…the Halston Heritage collection embodies it all, and then some. This dynamic little Evening Frame Sequined Clutch is emblematic of the diffusion line’s overall appeal to trendsetters who don’t mind standing out in a crowd.

I have always thought that Frida Giannini carries herself with incredible panache and style, so I was happy to hear that, in celebrating of Gucci's Paragon flagship store that opened last week, the Singapore Tourism Board, in association with the Singapore Botanic Gardens, has bestowed upon the brand's creative director the "Paravanda Frida" orchid. Never one to rest of her laurels, however, Giannini has, in return, designed a special collection of exclusive items with 100% of proceeds benefitting the Mainly I Love Kids (MILK) charity inspired by said flower.

Available in March, the collection, available only in Singapore (sorry folks!) comprises a special Boston bag (of which 78 were made at approximately $903 US dollars) in white GG coated canvas featuring a hand painted version of the Paravanda Frida motif with the iconic Gucci web in pink and white and Gucci logo (meanwhile, 10 were made of a version with white crocodile handles); a wristlet in white GG coated canvas featuring a hand painted version of the Paravanda Frida motif and a cotton T-shirt featuring the Paravanda Frida motif styled in gray for men and white for women. The Boston bag is a classic Gucci shape--their equivalent to Louis Vuitton's Speedy, you could say--and the one bag that's been reinterpreted in countless versions and for a host of special occasions. All the bags in the special edition series have unique serial numbers embossed inside. Gucci also available here.

Despite the frills and feathered minis coming in for Fall '10, there's also something very pared down happening. "Warm minimalism" seems to be the catch phrase to describe this phenomena and Matthew Williamson's smart little handbags are exactly what I'm talking about.

Something about the size and scale of this bag is sleek, but a little embellishment keeps it from being boring and severe.

Doesn't it just make you want to get all dressed up (in a pared-down sort of way), grab your smart little handbag and go out for a nice lunch?

Meet the Chlo Mavis Hunting Bag, the latest addition to Chlo's impressive handbag family. This label is slowly but surely becoming my favorite go-to bag purveyor. It's bags like the 'Mavis' that prove just how talented Hannah MacGibbon, Chlo's creative director, truly is. Ever since the arrival of the Sally Shoulder Bag and the ubiquitous Paraty Bag, it's become clear that MacGibbon found a way to balance detail, functionality and timeless appeal between her RTW collections and accessories. Bags like the 'Mavis' compliment Chlo's sweet urban minimalist aesthetic while shining as stand-alone pieces. Let's examine how well this bag does just that.

For spring, it's all about the shoulder bag. While the 'Mavis' is not my top choice, it's a very close runner-up. The design does, in fact, resemble a hunter's bag. Hunting is (or was) popular in Cuba, so I have quite a few former hunters in my family. My father-in-law still has the bag he would take on his hunting trips to the Everglades, and, as a handbag lover, I've always admired the sturdy construction and practical design of his trusty companion.

Can't you just imagine 'Mavis' becoming your companion. Look at how well-made she is. A long front flap is home to a single buckle strap accent piece as well as open pockets for stashing keys or little scraps of paper like I do. Lift the flap and you'll find more pockets as well as an open main compartment that is roomier than you'd expect. The key to this bag's success lies in the adjustable leather shoulder strap. Keep it short and use it as a true shoulder bag, or let it out and, voila!, it's a crossbody bag - yet another must-have style for spring. The soft khaki color works so well with such a utilitarian design. Who wants to look practical but severe. Just because 'Mavis' is a "hunting bag" doesn't mean we have to look like a hunter when wearing it.

I'm loving Chlo's price points lately. The Mavis Leather Hunting Bag is priced at $1345, and pricing like that will keep it in contention for many shoppers. You can pre-order 'Mavis' via saks.com.

Whether or not this bag is for you, we should all be excited for the return of glam!! Feather and sequins!! What can be more decadent? Well, it's not like Valentino ever turned sensible but I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us once they pull out all the stops!! You cannot get a sense of the intricacy and details until close inspection but once you do you begin to appreciate the couture luxury and feel. Sure this is super fancy and a bit much for everyday but as a show piece you have to admit, it is pretty fabulous. At Bergdorf Goodman for $4,990.

If this is over the top for you, the Glam tote has the same idea with less embellishments. Go to jump page for photo and info.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate Chinese New Year this weekend than sharing the fabulous Chanel Paris-Shanghai collection with you! My grandmother grew up in Shanghai during the height of its glory in the 1920's and 1930's, or as she calls it-- the chicest city on earth (other than Paris, she will admit). Boy does she have great stories of her life as a young Shanghainese socialite (but I'm saving that for my book)! I'm certain she'd approve of Chanel's beautiful homage to her glorious hometown (great excuse for me to pick up several bags so I can show them to her!)-- starting with the adorable plexi and enamel Chinese doll clutch above. It's so exquisite and beautifully made that I will most likely have a glass case made to display it, taking it out for only the most special of occasions. The sparkling sequined classic flap bags below are also very Chinese, we love anything shiny and anything red-- especially for Chinese New Year (I wear red underwear during the entire 2 weeks of celebrations-- sorry, is that too much info?).

The Paris-Shanghai collection is coming soon to a CHANEL boutique near you! This is a special sneak preview for Bag Snob readers, I will have more info for you soon! Happy "Hu" Year everyone!

If so, the standards are on the rise on Americas Next Top Model where contestants will now have to work to compete on a whole other level: their high fashion sense. Thats right, popular Vogue editor Andr Leon Talley has signed onto the judging panel for the next three seasons of the show. Tyra has been pursuing Talley since before the shows first season but Talley declined the offer in the past, as he was unsure of the shows future. Now, after thirteen successful seasons, Talley hopes to bring a high-fashion edge to the panel, a perspective that they have lacked almost entirely in the past. So congratulations Andr and good luck ladies because now it looks like well be watching to see who can stay in the running to become Americas Next Top Model and fashionista!-Anna Elyse Lautmann
