It's always a pleasure to welcome Jeffrey Marcus of JM Visuals to Perfect Bound. As one of New York's premiere event designers, Jeffrey's aesthetic is always awe-inspiring. Jeffrey Marcus has designed for some of the city's most enviable venues including Sky Studios, the Angel Orensanz Foundation and of course, Central Park. Today Jeffrey takes us on a stroll around Nolita. This fashionable couple chose to marry at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral on Mott Street. Jeffrey stuck to a color palette of jewel tones that complimented the bridesmaid's dresses and the crisp January air. The bride carried an arrangement of Chocolate Calla Lilies, Cymbidium Orchids, Viburnum, and Pink and Burgundy Ranunculus. I love her winter shrug--a cold weather necessity that is as effortless as it is elegant.

The reception was held at the Tribeca Rooftop. The centerpieces were tall cylinders with pink quince branches creating a romantic canopy over each table. Nestled between the wine glasses and delicate china were lower arrangements of Cymbidium Orchids with twists of sea grass. The overall look was dramatic yet delicate, modern and magnificent. Thanks for sharing your creative vision with us Jeffrey!

You never know what to expect when the stars take the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. So far, I'm loving the continuation of this backless/long sleeve trend kicked off by Kate Hudson and picked up by Katy Perry. Perry wore a nude Zac Posen gown with strategically placed gold flowers to the Grammy Awards, accessorizing the look with Casadei heels, earrings by Dijan from Lebanon, and a Judith Leiber Elephant bag. (For more elephant fashion, check out these cheeky pieces by Kenneth Jay Lane and Noir available at Creative Contrast.)

Meanwhile, if these two ladies have anything to do with wedding trends for 2010, brides will be wearing long sleeves well into 2011. Stana Katic and Kate Hudson turned a few heads at this year's SAG Awards. The "Castle" actress wore a backless slinky silver gown by Oday Shakar while Kate wore yet another white gown, this time by Emilio Pucci.

Is open back too much for even modern brides? We'll have to wait and see.

Attention Long Island brides! Make your appointment now to preview the Vera Wang Fall 2010 Maids Collection. When Vera Wang unveiled her Top 10 Colors for Bridesmaids, our hearts went all aflutter. I love how she infused the collection with so many cool hues and soft silhouettes. Take particular notice of the color block dresses in her collection. I predict we'll be seeing this trend take off in 2010.

Karl Lagerfeld described his 2010 Couture collection for Chanel as "an electronic flash in my head at five o'clock one morning."

Brides can relate.

Many of us pieced together the inspiration for our weddings at the wee hours of the night and as a result of a sudden burst of inspiration. And while I'm not sure if we'll see many grooms in head to toe gold this year, I know there's some bit of inspiration brides can pull from this gorgeous couple. I personally love the long sleeves and fingerless gloves on the bride. Don't you?

PS- Check out the bangs and bows from this show over at The Girl's Girl. Just wild!

Sorry, but it's true. All of my favorite gowns from this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards were white. From Katrina Bowden to Kate Hudson and of course, Marion Cotillard, each of these actresses will no doubt inspire new brides to think about black belts, long sleeves or a few feathers to their dream wedding gown.

Katrina Bowden wore a a black belted Tadashi Shoji short gown which she accessorized with black shoes, one of my favorite wedding trends for 2010. Kate Hudson wore yet another white stunner. After causing a stir in Marchesa at the Golden Globes, she picked a plunging back Emilio Pucci. For Marion Cotillard, it was an embellished Elie Saab Haute Couture dress with Chopard jewels, a Judith Leiber clutch and Elie Saab heels that stole the show.

Was your favorite SAG gown white? A few other celebrities caught my eye, but for for the most part I was underwhelmed. Ahem, Drew Barrymore.

I'm delighted to be guest blogging over at Creative Contrast, and so lately my attention has turned to all things accessory. Still swept away by the fashion at the Golden Globes, I'm intrigued by the little details that personalized some of my favorite looks. Nicole Kidman and Rose Byrne wore dresses so lovely they could have dazzled all on their own. But they took things one step further and added accessories, specifically vintage brooches, that defined their look further. I love the idea, clearly, and there's no shortage of vintage jewelry to inspire stylish brides to do the same. Here are a few of my picks.

Above, from left: Pearl Bow Brooch, $26, Monsoon. Pearl Style Bow Brooch, $20, Amazon. V & A Inspired Pave Brooch, $98, QVC. Maryann's Crystal Ribbon & Faux Pearl Brooch, $32, Fantasy Jewelry Box. Candie's Rhinestone Ribbon Pin, $23, Fantasy Jewelry Box. Lulu Guinness Black Perspex Bow Brooch, $102, ASOS. Below: Cornell's Jewelers - Brooch, $250 - cornelljewelers.com. Multi-stone Brooch, $42, Etsy. Vintage Layered Vintage Swirl Brooch, $40, Etsy.

Many fashion blogs are already calling Anna Kendrick, Diane Kruger and Chlo Sevigny out for their contributions to a rising trend: volume dresses. I think these beautiful ladies are proving that pouf can be beautiful. Case in point, Anna Kendrick who took up her fair share of the red carpet in this pale-mint Marchesa Spring 2010 gown. What do you think, dear readers? Will 2010 see a rise in volume down the aisle?

Jennifer Garner wore a slim one-shoulder beaded gown by Atelier Versace to this year's Golden Globes. Depending on the light, the gown looked either lilac or silver, and totally stunning. It's the gleam that makes this gown gorgeous so if you love the look, go for wedding gowns or bridesmaid dresses with silvery details. (From left:) This vintage strapless with gold/silver metallic effects by All Saints, $100, mimics Jennifer's gown but has a style all it's own. This one-should gown from Maxmara is embellish-free but the neckline makes it a dead ringer for Jennifer's Versace. The shimmer from this one-shoulder Nicole Miller techno metal dress, $294, will only get better as the night wears on. Lastly, I love this off-the-shoulder silver mesh gown with a basketweave bodice by JS Collections, available at Dillards, $180, for a modern bride who loves the spotlight.

If these ladies have anything to do with wedding trends in 2010, every bride will be requesting a blush gown. From light peach to pearl pink, each of these stars (and many of them new brides,) looked lovely at the 2010 Golden Globes last night.

Above, Christina Hendricks wore a Christian Siriano gown and jewelry by Loree Rodkin. The designer modified this multi-color gown from his 2010 collection to make a pretty peach version just for the new bride. Nicole Kidman wore a blush satin Nina Ricci gown from the designer's Spring/Summer 2010 Ready to Wear collection. The actress added a diamond bow brooch to the gown and kept her neckline naked. Christina Aguilera wore an almost modest peach Versace gown with a metallic bodice from the Spring 2010 collection paired with Nina Ricci heels and Stephen Webster jewels. Can I see this gown working for rock-n-roll brides? Of course I can.

Marion Cotillard wore a deep jewel-toned asymmetrical dress with a daring slit by Christian Dior Spring 2010. Ginnifer Goodwin wore a sapphire one-shoulder Vionnet Spring 2010 gown. Sandra Bullock got it right with this purple a Bottega Veneta Spring 2010 gown. Diane Kruger can do no wrong in this hot pink Christian Lacroix Haute Couture. Chloe Sevigny made a statement in a strapless lilac gown by Valentino.

I always get a flutter in my stomach when Birnbaum & Bullock announce they are hosting a sample sale. I purchased one of their gorgeous sample gowns myself and at this very same sample sale (back in 2007!) I had no idea I would leave their shop with my gown when I booked the sample sale appointment, but after having visited several other bridal shops, I had not an ounce of hesitation that Steven Birnbaum and Robert Bullock would treat me like gold. And did they ever! Steven and Robert offer hands on expertise and work directly with brides to find the gown, headpiece, and veil of their dreams. My gown was fit to perfection and a dream to wear. I'm so jealous that they now offer two separate collections in addition to the collaborative classic collection. Don't miss out on this weekend's sample sale!

Many, many stars dress in white on the red carpet. Whether or not these stars are living out their couture wedding fantasy in front of a live audience is not for us to judge. We're just glad they give us brides something to dream about. Some of my favorite white red carpet gowns were worn to this year's Academy Awards include Anne Hathaway's body hugging Armani Prive, Jessica Biel's Prada bow-ed dress, and Penelope Cruz's Pierre Balmain. If I had to dress this year's Golden Globe nominees in white, here's what I'd pick.

For Anne Hathaway, I would stick to the same body-hugging silhouette and add a few feathers to this year's gown. I'd let Jessica Biehl be boho this year, not bow-ed. And for Penelope Cruz who may or may not be engaged to Javier Bardem, I'd pick a slinky silver Jean Paul Gaultier gown. Wouldn't you?

What's not to love about Emily Blunt. She's whip smart, wildly funny and is the envy of every girl who thought they too would one day marry John Krasinski. It will be all eyes on her this Sunday night when she takes to the red carpet at the Golden Globes. In the past, Emily hasn't shied away from wearing prints (from left: Marchesa Fall 2009, Basil Soda Fall 2009 Couture, and Marc Bouwer) but with white on her mind, I wonder if she'll use this red carpet appearance to test drive a few wedding gowns...

On the flip side, I can also see her rocking these pretty prints from Alexis Mabille Fall 2009 Couture
and Michael Kors pre-fall 2010. I mean, couldn't you?

I love Sandra Bullock like nobody's business. Did you see her last night on Jay Leno? So sweet and saucy. She's a huge fan of one-shouldered gowns so it won't be a shock if she wears one this weekend at the Golden Globes where she's nominated for Best Actress. But she also favors romance in the form of flowing sleeves and draped fabrics as seen in her choice for The Proposal premiere in Germany when she wore a Halston wrap dress with an asymmetrical hemline. So what will it be for Sandy? Maybe she'll stick with a one-shoulder stunner like she did for the Golden Globes last year when she wore Dior. She went for gold at the 2010 People's Choice Awards wearing Vivienne Westwood but I'd like to see her in a bright color like she wore last night on Leno.I'm devoted to this sultry red gown by Badgley Mischka and would love to see Sandra pull it off. Although if she does do gold again, it should be this gown from Derek Lam Fall RTW09 and none other. But who would blame Bullock if she stuck to what she loves and wore this lovely one-shoulder gown by J. Mendel? I guess we'll just have to wait to see what's she wears and if she wins!{photo credits: style.com}

Milla Jovovich can do no wrong in my book. I love her spirited style and laid back looks. When she arrives on the red carpet, all eyes are on her and for all the right reasons. She stuns in short or long gowns, and what she'll be wearing to this year's Golden Globes will be stunning as well. Here are some of my favorite red carpet looks from Milla Jovovich including a maroon Prada gown which she wore to the American Museum of Natural History's Museum Dance, a chartreuse Marni Fall 2009 dress with amazing details, and an Elie Saab Spring 2009 Couture gown that is pure glam. It's the details that do it for Milla so when she shows up at this year's Golden Globes, I wouldn't be surprised if she's dressed head to toe in sequins, silk flowers or both.

My picks for Milla include this Erdem Fall 2009 embellished gown with cutout black lace applied dramatically to duchesse satin, or this boho glam gown from 3.1 Philip Lim Fall 2009, or my favorite, this Sonia Rykiel Fall 2009 gown embellished with a million sequins. Each gown embodies the spirit of Milla Jovovich, in my opinion, and when she walks the red carpet this Sunday night, we'll see if I'm right.

As promised, this week is all about the gown. In anticipation of this weekend's Golden Globe Awards, I've put together a little series I like to call, "Guess the Gown." What will our favorite red carpet beauties be wearing this weekend? We can only guess. Will they stick to familiar designers and favorite colors or try something totally bananas? I'm no Rachel Zoe but I'd like to take a shot at it.

Nominated for Best Picture, (500) Days of Summer leading lady Zooey Deschanel will no doubt be wearing something short. I loved her style in this movie and would love to see her in something smart yet sexy. Zooey always keeps it mini, wearing knee length dresses with high waists and full skirts. She has an affinity for bows and interesting necklines. Don't you agree? Here she is (at top) in Naeem Khan 2010, Lela Rose Spring 2009 and Christian Dior Fall 2008. For her movie, she wore frilly dresses from another era. Her retro style in the movie will no doubt translate to something similar on the red carpet, I hope.

So what do you think? What will Zooey Deshanel wear to this year's Golden Globes? If I had to guess, I'd say it would be this colorful Vivienne Tam color block cocktail dress, this black and white printed dress with deep v-neck from Abaet Fall 2009, or this incredible Luella tiered gown in ivory satin and of course, a bow at the waist. You can bet we'll see Zooey in dark tights and demure shoes, or will we? What do you think?
